Altitude valves have a sensitive pilot that detects heights of a few meters when filling a tank, and sends an order of closing to the main valve when the maximum level is reached. They save costs when installed next to elevated tanks, or tanks with difficult access, or in installations where the surface of the water can freeze.
There are essentially two types: model 40 AWR, semi throttling, which maintains the maximum level in the tank; model 30 AWR, non modulating (full open or full close) that interrupts the supply and will not resume the supply until the level in the tank hasn´t decreased at least half a meter. They are well suited for controlling the filling of reservoirs in pumping systems or in low pressure conditions.
